I wish I was in the land of Better Attitudes

Now this is one of those embarrassing racist things that always ruins it for the rest of us. I wish I was in the land of Better Lyrics. Look Away! Look Away! Quick!

Remember the old song "Dixie"? Someone entered an extensive history of the song "Dixie"on Wikipedia, complete with socio-political analysis. The lyrics we are familiar with may have racist undertones, right? But "undertones" won't matter when you see this. Here are lyrics printed in the Confederate Veteran magazine, June 1923, page 204 ...

O! Dixie's land is the land of glory, The land of cherished song and story. Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land! The land where rules the Anglo-Saxon, The land of Davis, Lee, and Jackson. Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land!
